Montmartre, in Paris’ 18th District, is one of the main tourist attractions in the French capital. The Calvary Cemetery, in the heart of Montmartre, is the highest point of the city at an altitude of around 130 metres.
Montmartre was a French commune in the Seine district until it was annexed by the city of Paris in 1860. The neighbourhood is home to many famous monuments and well-known attractions such as the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, the Place du Tertre (and its painters) and also to the famous theatres (La Cigale, Le Trianon) and cabarets (Le Moulin Rouge, Le Chat noir…).
